What is Success?

Success is the progressive realization of one’s desires. Each favorable result towards achieving the desire is considered as a success. It dwells more within the one who desires rather than those who watch it.

“The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.”- Vince Lambardi

There are different perspectives for success, the perspective of one who is doing and that of those who are watching are examples. While the result of an act may bring joy to the one who has done it, that may not draw the appreciation of others that are watching.

To succeed one should have a desire. Willingness to leave the comfort zone and take up a new path is a key requirement for success. Approach whatever is chosen with passion, stay focused on what is being done, work with involvement, persist on the work even in situations of setbacks, become good at what you are doing, have an attitude to serve others, create ideas, have the push from within to achieve what is desired.

Success is not measured by wealth, but usually wealth follows success.

“The secret of achievement is to hold a picture of a successful outcome in the mind.” Henry David Thoreau

For the one who has reached a milestone in achieving his desire it is a success where as for the spectators it is not a success. So decide what you want rather than thinking what others will think of you.

“I cannot do everything, but I can do something. I must not fail to do the something that I can do.” - Helen Keller

Everyone has the capability to do something better than others around. Identifying that capability and directing the energy towards that will yield success. One has to understand himself to be successful. Do not try to copy other’s success to yield success.

“Destiny is not a matter of chance; it is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for; it is a thing to be achieved.”- William Jennings Bryan
